This course teaches students how to safely access and work on towers including wind turbines, radio, radar, microwave, electrical, transmission, water, and lighting structures. Participants learn the proper inspection and use of fall protection equipment and how to comply with the provisions of their location’s fall protection plans. This includes anchor selection, ensuring equipment compatibility, proper adjustment of the harness, proper climbing techniques, and basic self-rescue procedures.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course the participants will be able to:
1. Describe how the construction of various towers affects the fall hazards and fall protection procedures.
2. Display proper climbing technique and safety awareness.
3. Estimate fall distances and arresting force magnitudes.
4. Follow the provisions of their location’s fall protection plans.
4. Use, store, and maintain equipment according to manufacturer’s requirements.
5. Tie all required knots/hitches (if applicable).
6. Use all required knowledge and skills in practice scenarios.
